After enjoying our scrumptious pot luck dinner, the meeting was called to order by President Becky King @ 7:24 PM.
OLD BUSINESS: Becky gave report on the Jr. Rodeo. Attendance was bit low due to the postponement of the rodeo due to rain. We actually experienced a small loss this year, but all agreed a great time was had by the kids.
There was much discussion about making some changes to next year's rodeo, including but not limited to separating speed and stock events, dropping the jackpots altogether, amount of buckle prizes, ect. After some lively discussion, it was decided by unanimous vote to do it all in one day next year. Everything else was tabled, but changes are coming!
Discussed the Boomtown Rodeo which will be on the 9th and 10th of
September. Applications will be accepted for contestants for Queen and Princesses. Packets are available. Decided by unanimous vote to give a stock trailor as a prize to this year's Queen and a saddle to the princess. We began the process of forming committtees to secure sponsors for them as well as to secure ads for the trailer.
Sponsors will also be needed for chutes, events (13), Banners, Barrells, ect.
Christine Doyle suggested a chuckwagon cook-offs and activities all day long. This began lively discussion and many suggestions for fundraising for the rodeo, including more vendors @ 50 bucks a night, a rodeo breakfast, and entertainment.
The June playday was cancelled due to rain and will be made up at a later time.
Discussed upcoming events:July 2--Playday and tack sale RRRA arena.
Bring tack, old or new, and pay a $10.00 fee for a table! Also will have tack sale at the next playday, July 2. PLEASE , do NOT sell out of your trailers. Tables will be set up near concessions.
